Why Lessons?

The First Note

From the very first phrase to the final bow, there is a lot for a musician to know.  The confidence gained from learning something so new and foreign is uplifting and empowering.

Students of lower socioeconomic status who took music lessons in grades 8 - 12 increased their math scores significantly as compared to non - music students. But just as important, reading, history, geography and even social skills soared by 40%.  -Gardiner, Fox, Jeffrey and Knowles

Teach In Harmony

Finding a way to inspire a student to grasp music in a new way is one of the many joys of teaching.  Each lesson should be filled with joy.

“Teaching music is not my main purpose. I want to make good citizens. If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance. They get a beautiful heart.”

-Shinichi Suzuki

The Future Sounds Good

Each year, scholars are discovering more benefits that can be derived from music.

The outlook is truly bright; Students lagging behind in scholastic performance caught up to their fellow students in reading and surpassed their classmates in math by 22% when given music instruction over seven months.  -Nature, May 23, 1996
